OUR STORY
Scalp Designs was founded in 2015 after owner John Toti went through his own personal struggle with hair loss and discovered the confidence-changing impact of scalp micropigmentation.
“Looking in the mirror and seeing a hairline again was an incredible feeling. I felt like I had taken back my confidence. That moment changed everything for me. I knew scalp micropigmentation was by far the best solution for hair loss, and I wanted to help other men and women who felt stuck hiding under hats or relying on daily cover-up products like Toppik, wigs, hairpieces, and even failed transplant procedures.”
John began losing his hair at a very young age and knows firsthand the frustration, insecurity, and constant maintenance that comes with trying to hide hair loss. After years of dealing with the emotional toll of it all, he decided there had to be a better solution.
While working as a cosmetic tattoo artist, John attended a conference that introduced pigmentation designed to replicate natural hair follicles as a treatment for hair loss. That discovery changed the course of his career. He returned home, found a trainer, completed extensive hands-on training, and successfully treated five models as part of his certification process. After months of dedicated training, John became the first licensed scalp micropigmentation technician in New England.
After completing his own SMP treatment, John felt an immediate shift in how he saw himself. The weight of insecurity was lifted, and for the first time in years, he felt confident in both his appearance and himself. That experience became the foundation of Scalp Designs — a company built to help others restore not just the look of their hair, but their confidence as well.
